mazdaspeed3 VS. evo VIII informational videos !!

this is not street racing....it is comparative test data between my ms3 and my cousins 2005 evo.
his car has a short ram and hks bov.......my car has only my greddy type s bov.
all runs were done from 60MPH....the camera kid sucked but you will get the point.

professional drivers on a closed coarse...and whatever other disclaimers needed to keep the thread alive....

1st time ......good run he was in front ...barely
http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...;current=1.flv

2nd time...he was slowly pulling away from me
http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...;current=2.flv

3rd time.... he got a quick jump but i was gaining until i got too close to a truck and had to brake
http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...;current=3.flv

what did i tell ya... evos and sti's wont kill ms3's... if he didnt have the short ram i may have won every time !!
either way..hope you all enjoy my hard work and research

Oh boy, you know you opened a can right?

Thanks for sharing the the videos. Did he have someone in his car too? Cause if he didn't he would also have a weight advantage.
I'm a little surprised at how well you kept up and the fact that you were walking away in the third video. I expected him to walk away slowly but he had a really hard time doing that even when he was in front. I'd really like to see what an MS3 will do with better traction up front.

Mods so far: Cobb SRI, TWM shifter base bushings

Re: mazdaspeed3 VS. evo VIII informational videos !!

I always felt we were a close match with evo's and sti's once the traction from a dig disadvantage was removed.* I guess these videos more or less prove it.* Now my hope is that the MZR DISI responds to mods as well as a 4G63 or a EJ25.

and fwiw, I would have to say a short ram on the evo was a distinct advantage.* Not a great one, but it wasnt as restrictive as our air box thats for sure.

I'm sure it was a modified Semi Trailer, and they were a bit early for their booking on the test facility..

You and your friend should try 0-60 comparos as well. I don't expect the ms3 would fare quite as well, but might as well see how it goes and let us know.
