Anyone have Helio?

Debating on switching in January, im on our familys family plan for verizon and i freaking hate how much of money grubers they are. Helio seems like a really good company. service looks to be about on par with the other around here so that shouldnt be to much of a problem, and for 65 a month you get uber amount of stuff for free and 500 minutes. and since its just me then that 500 should be no problem..

some questions though.

it says unlimted text and all that other stuff. is that just to helio members or unlimited to anyone?

and just in general what has your experience been with them?

If you want to switch, I would wait a little while to see how the industry rates the phone after it's been out for a while. See how consumers feel about it, what complaints they have and what bugs need to be worked out with the phones and service plans.

Re: Anyone have Helio?

Holy crap, my wife and I pay $71 a month (including taxes) for Verizon's family plan. Lower cost and better service then when I was with cingular. An individual plan for me with verizon was running about $45 a month with about 200 free minutes during the day, 500 I think was like $55.

Re: Anyone have Helio?

Helio is pretty tempting, i mean 500 daytime minutes and unlimted nights and weekends. Plus the texting, GPS and videos and all that crap. The phones also have a 2MP camera which is better than what ive seen on others.

Anyway I might switch over, but I'm going to wait until they are out in my area.

Re: Anyone have Helio?

i kinda like helio too but not the 65 dollars a month thing. but yeah it is alot of stuff for free added on. Depends on your uses i guess, they are some nice devices tho (Dont wanna call it a phone, a shark might get me, or a whale).

I pay 40 bucks a month by myself with cingular. Uhhg i want my plan to be over.. my phone sucks so bad.. lol.

But yeah i looked at helio and really liked them. Get the drift phone, drift rims, and play tokyo drift in your car and ppl will wonder whats up. (might not be a good 'whats up' tho)

Re: Anyone have Helio?

the only thing that would suck is that everyone around here has verizon, and since im in we already talk/text each other for free. Helio cant even call other helios for free. uses minutes if its peak time.

Re: Anyone have Helio?

I have been with Helio for about 6 months now... overall, not a bad deal.
Their service has been good to me so far. there were some days where the network was slow or not working due to updating their network. but most of their problems seem to be fixed now. They had some problems with picture messege service and what not.
Customer service center is little slow. it sounds like they only have one "expert" and bunch of operators that asks the "expert" for you to get answers. if you're used to fast customer service, it might be little annoying.
500 minutes can go quick since they don't offer mobile to mobile. but if you text more than talk you're in good shape.
btw, careful with surfing their 'internet' they have some interesting things that if you decide to download, that can add up real quick on your bill. some screens and ring tones cost me some bucks.
i hope this help you with the decision.
