Girls and Guys

One question:

Does ANYONE think the hatch is a "chick" car. Or Does anyone think it is for feminine males. I'm straight. I got caught up in an argument on Myspace simply starting the topic on gas milage and they all started ratting on me that since I drive a hatch I'm automaticly gay. I am making a big deal about it because thats the way I am Stupid shit gets to me and I can't let it go untill it goes away.

Thanks for your time everyone!

Re: Girls and Guys

Interesting how we may select up to two options in the poll....I guess a guy could have both a sedan and a hatch... never mind then.

I still don't see the validity of the poll, first because the forums have a 13:1 M:F ratio, so the data's going to be whacky to begin with. Secondly, you don't ask about the people's sexuality or anything like that. Might be interesting to see if the gay crowd is going with the hatch more than the sedan.

Edit: Please add your location to your profile as well... helps us figure out where people are coming from.

Re: Girls and Guys

I remember seeing on tv a few years ago there was a list of the top cars that females own or something to that effect, and if I remember correctly the VW Beetle and the Neon were the top 2, so I'm gonna say no, the hatch isn't a chick car

Well...I have owned a 2004 sedan, and now own a 2006 hatch. I am a male, and a gay one at that. Isn't that quite the puzzle

Re: Girls and Guys

I never saw many before I bought my 3, so I didn't think about it. It didn't strike me as effeminate in any way.

Now that I have one, I do notice them more, but it's still not every day. (by the way, i drive 30 miles one way to work on the 405 from the LBC to Irvine and back every day.)

by far, i see more girls driving sedans than men, but i do see men driving them, and they don't appear to lean (over) that way...not that i'm an expert at spotting rump rangers. (uh, not that there's anything wrong with that) :P
:hide:

i do see girls driving hatches, but it's more guys, maybe 30-70. it's usually cute girls but i also saw a 50+ lady.
the guys driving hatches don't look like pillow-biters to me either (not that there's anything wrong with that either) :P
:hide:

i have to assume that there may be regional influences as well.

in any case, it's definately not in the miata class, or beetle...lol

Re: Girls and Guys

Well, I'm about as un-feminine as you can get... LOL

I ordered a hatch because the lines are more dramatic and it's unique. The sedan, though still a nice car, is a different take on more of the same. But the hatch...there's nothing really in the market at that price range that's anything like it, IMO. Some people have compared it to the Matrix, but it's just nothing like it. Besides, the curves and lines are more dramatic on the body style.

I just don't like driving what everyone else is driving. I like something that shouts out. I even love that Dodge Magnum!

Re: Girls and Guys

Well, Im female (as if my name didn't give it away) and I'm a hatch person 100%. I love how they look and I love having the versatility that comes with owning one.

I see plenty of men and women locally driving hatches and sedans, so go figure.
