Thinking about a G35 Coupe

I was pretty sure that despite the hatchback styling, I was going to trade my 2005 sedan for a Speed3 when it came out. Now I am very unsure because of the $30,995 price tag in Canada which would work out to over $36,000 OTR. Also, we only have "pull me over red" right now so, if I were to buy it wouldn't be until springtime when then white ones arrive in Canada.

On the other hand, I have always loved the Infiniti G35 Coupes. The styling, the 298hp V6, it all does it for me. I had never really considered one before as I had always thought of them as being out of my price range. As it turns out, through a few connections that I have, I could probably get a used (04 or 05) G35 for much less than the Speed3. This idea has been growing on me for the last few weeks, but I have a while to decide since I will be driving my current 3 through the winter at least.

Speed3 or G35?

Opinions?

Re: Thinking about a G35 Coupe

g35's definatly look hawt. but here are some adv/disadv.

g35 v6 will suck more gas than the speed3. (i think)
g35 insurance will potentially be more than the speed3. (I think)
speed3 will be brand new when you drive it..... brand new > used car anyday.
if u drop over to the mazdaspeed section, mazda released info that the 2nd batch will be a choice color in canada. white, black or cosmic blue. so we now get to choose like normal ppl :P This will prob be when you are ready to buy your car.

Good luck. either way you cant really go wrong. g35 is definatly one hot car! make sure you get the coupe :P

Re: Thinking about a G35 Coupe

also consider service costs. luxury brands carry luxury price tags for scheduled service

unless you're going to be doing it all yourself, in which case I guess it doesn't matter.

Re: Thinking about a G35 Coupe

If you do end up getting an 04 or 05, go with the 04. They came stock from Infiniti with the upgraded Brembo brake kit. The 05's didn't have that option.

Though the repairs will cost more, most likely and insurance MAY go up more (we don't know your record), you might be better off with the Speed 3.

Do some comparrison costs of insurance, repairs and so on and see which suits you better.

Re: Thinking about a G35 Coupe

For me, 298 hp RWD > 263 hp FWD, and there are few cars on the road better looking and better driving than a G. My friend in Ohio just bought one and she LOVES EVERYTHING about it except the trunk space, but that's a small compromise for her since her husband drives a Pilot. She actually bought it in Dallas and then moved to Ohio and I got to drive it when it was a few days old. She got the performance package with the 19" wheels and all the other goodies, and I immediately fell in lust. The seats....the dash....the body...the sound. Ugh...where's my napkin. :-)

Re: Thinking about a G35 Coupe

i say go with the speed 3 because the new 2007-2008 G35 looks a lot different. youll be kinda bummed that you have the old body style and everything else that goes with it.

The new body style dosen't look too bad overall, but it looks "too bulky" for my taste. The car already feels heavy enough. This just makes it look that much heavier.
