Hey how do you like your GPS unit?

We've had are Garmin Nuvi 350 for a few weeks, and so far it's pretty sweet. We'll find out more in March on our 3 week "road trip" down the west coast to San Diego and across to Arizona and up through UT. and ID. and back home! 8)

Nuvi is a nice lil package. Ironically enough, one of its best features (the fact that it pronounces the name of the street you are suppose to turn onto, rather than just tell you turn 'right' or 'left&#039 is what made it super annoying for me. Ottawa is right on the border of quebec (french province, so street names in french), and Nuvi just couldn't handle the french pronounciation properly. The time it took me to figure out what the heck the unit had just said was enough for me to miss my turn completely. Heck even in ottawa it would call Moodie dr. (i.e. drive) 'moodie doctor'. That's just retarded. But still one of the best units on the market.

Re: Hey how do you like your GPS unit?

Well, I know it is not the units you were thinking but in our household we have three handheld units, all Garmin. They have been dropped, fell on and abused pretty good. Would not consider anything but a garmin after the luck we have had with these. We play a game called geocaching where you get on geocachings website, put in a zip code and it gives you all the local caches and there cords. It is like a treasure hunt and they are usually in cool ass spots you would not find otherwise. Best thing is it only costs you gas and your time and the gps if you need one. Almost have to have a handheld unit though since they usually require a small hike. Me and my wife have been plating for about four years know and it is still a blast.

If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.

Re: Hey how do you like your GPS unit?

I got mine from costco.com for like $550, I'm sure there are cheaper places to get it... but you can't complain about their return policy!
