Having corrective eye surgery - experiences/opinions

Hey there folks. I have been considering this for some time and now I have the cashola to make it happen. I have not yet had my pre-op exam so I don't know if I'm a good candidate but I belive myself to be. Just wondering if anyone has had this precedure done in the last few years, especially the Lasik and not the PRK(or PKR whatever). If you want to share your opinion thats fine as well as this is not for everyone but I have done enough research to know that its pretty safe.

Re: Having corrective eye surgery - experiences/opinions

My friend had it done and loved it. I actually got to sit there and watch them do it! Odd, but it works.
I would do it...if I needed to.

Re: Having corrective eye surgery - experiences/opinions

^^ yeah that is normal with the PKR or PRK whatever...Lasik recovery can be generally about a week. While PKR can take about 6-8 months with constant eye drops.

My fiancee and bro-in-law both had lasik surgery and both are very happy with the results. In both cases the doctor over corrected their vision and both claim that they can see much better than using glasses or contacts.

Re: Having corrective eye surgery - experiences/opinions

I had PKR done about 1.5 years ago. Best decision I ever made. My night vision decreased slightly (though i could see better at night then all of my friends before the PKR so I guess i'm reduced to normal ) and i do get some starbursts from streetlights. I rarely get starbursts from headlights and it's only minor, i don't have any halos.

It really depends on you bad your eyesight is and how large your pupils are.

I didn't qualify for Lasik since my cornea is only 0.4 microns thick and you need 0.5-0.6 microns (if i remember correctly). My only problem was dry eyes, this went away after a few months.

Re: Having corrective eye surgery - experiences/opinions

ive been thinking about doing lasik for a while, i need to go see if i qualify.

For lasik they still have to make a small cut in your eye dont they? Then they use the laser?
