Barabus TKR: 0-60 mph in 1.67 secs, 270 mph top speed

Do we have your attention? The Barabus "1005 bhp" supercar we've been updating you on has finally been unveiled and the details on this machine are astounding. It's a true Italian-built exotic, though its twin-turbo 6.0-liter V8 that produces 1005 bhp is sourced from the U.K. According to Barabus, that motor will propel the all carbon-fiber car (body and chassis) to 60 mph in a mere 1.67 seconds, and on to a top speed of 270 mph. For those who didn't think this supercar was meant to be a Bugatti Veyron slayer, the new Barabus website that just went live today states, "The TKR is designed to compete with the world's fastest, quickest, best handling, most luxurious grand touring cars in the world" (our emphasis). Barabus will be producing 300-400 TKRs over a three-year production period, and fetching one will cost you £360,000. A sharp bargain compared to the Veyron's £600,000 (USD$1.1 million) asking price.

Looks like a cheap ass kit car in those pics.

If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.

It does look like a cheap kit car.

Also I hope to god it has AWD and racing slicks on the car.

0-60 in 1.67 seconds equals an acceleration of 1.6g's approximately. On a great day with perfect traction and sticky road going tires an insane car MIGHT be able to manage a stop from 60mph in 100 feet...or about 1g of deceleration...that is with all 4 tires working to stop the car. Even with weight transfer I doubt you would be getting more then 80% of the weight on those rear tires.

A formula 1 car generally manages 0-60mph times around 2.2-2.7 seconds, or about a G of accleration or a little bit more. That is with a SERIOUSLY trick differential and some wide racing slicks and a curb weight of under 2000lbs pushing out 700+hp.

I don't see this car managing it without AWD and racing slicks. Maybe AWD and R-compound type tires it might just maybe be able to do that. It isn't even so much a power issue as it is a traction issue.

The front looks like a rip off of the S7 and the rear of a Zonda... actually, the rear is hideous. yuck. Lots of claims but not enough facts/proofs?
