Do you Talk to Yourself?

Lately i've noticed that a lot of people have been talking to themselves, especially older people.

I call this "thinking out loud" AKA (talking to one's self). i've heard this is phsycologically and mentally bad if you are doing this very frequently...

I sometimes "think out loud" when im either thinking really hard (like when im taking an exam) or when im really hyper or happy (like after 3 espresso shots).

i was wondering if you guys (or gals) did the same thing or something similar... Let us share our experiences with one another. that is all

thank you for your time and input.

Re: Do you Talk to Yourself?

wow, I am begning to think that we will have a thread for everything on this forum.
Yes I do talk to myself when I am really mad I am just kinda rambling on, as well as when I am drunk. *I will also answer my own questions if I ask them and no one responds to me. *Also when I am thinking out loud. *I have never heard of talking to yourself as being bad mentally, unless you are hearing voices in your head at which point you would be suffering from a mental disability.

Re: Do you Talk to Yourself?

That's something that is always on my mind. I always notice senior citizens walked around talking to themselves without a clue that they are doing it. Nothing major, you know? Just kinda see them walking around the grocery store thinking to themselves, complaining about the little things and whatnot...

Reason I notice that is because it worries me that I will turn out to be like that. I have come to the conclusion that I WILL be just like that and learned to just cope with it. I don't think that I'm crazy, I just tend to think outloud while I'm working. I'm a software developer for a gov. agency so I spend hours looking at conditional statements, loops and random data... the kind of shit that would make just about anyone have to talk to themselves...

I have also noticed that even though I don't spend too much of my time talking to others (since I'm stuck in my cube all day) I hardly ever want to talk to others either after work. Most people would think that since I don't get to talk all day I couldn't wait to get out and talk... it's quite the opposite, there's nothing better than just being able to sit in my car for 20+ minutes on the way home and relax (even though it's chaos outside).

I dunno... you know what helps though? Forums... if I didn't have any other method of sharing my thoughts with others I think I would have gone crazy by now. As lame as it sounds, thank God for internet forums...
