Help Holeydonut pick a new car...

Okay, I need some unbiased opinions (har har) on what car to get... cause I'm just baffled now.

The problem is my decision is influenced by the fact that I work for DaimlerChrysler ... which means I have to (well, I don't *have to* but I just *have to if I want to not get ) get a car made by Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, or Mercedes.* I could get a Mitsubishi Raider as well.... but no.

Anyway, I've got my list down to 3 options

-- ----------------------------------------------------

1) A 2007 Mercedes C230 Sport.* The only one I can get (because Mercedes doesn't ship many manual-tranny cars to the USA) is in black.* *It has a sunroof.* That's it.* It won't have xenons, it won't have metallic paint, it won't have a folding rear seat, it won't have the deluxe sound system, it won't have Sirius Satellite Radio, etc.* Very bare C230 ...* If I custom-order a car, it won't get here till like December.

Pro: It's a mercedes / it's a manual transmission / it is really nice inside even though it is a budget Benz / it is shiny / it's E85 compatible
Con: People at work will think I'm a pompus bitch / I won't get many options / no folding rear seat makes the car very useless for hauling things.* No deluxe radio

but with these rims:

-- ---------------------------------------------------------

2) Dodge Magnum RT.* It'll have whatever options I want... but I won't get a SRT8 'cause the insurance will make my butthole much larger.* You can't get xenons on a Dodge product... but I can get just about anything else.

Pro: It's a wagon.* Wagons > Sedans > Hatchbacks / it has a Hemi / I won't get accused of being a bitch at work
Con: It's a wagon.* Wagons < Sedans < Hatchbacks / it is really f-ing huge / auto tranny only

-- ----------------------------------------------------------

3) Dodge Charger RT.* It'll have whatever options I want... but I won't get a SRT8 'cause the insurance will make my butthole much larger.* You can't get xenons on a Dodge product... but I can get just about anything else.

Pro: It's a sedan.* Sedans > Hatchbacks > Wagons / it has a Hemi / I won't get accused of being a bitch at work
Con: It's a sedan.* Sedans < Wagons < Hatchbacks / it is really f-ing huge / auto tranny only

-- -----------------------------------------------------------

The 3 cars are basically a "push" in these categories:

1) Fuel Economy.* The Hemi's aren't that bad... at least they're about on par with my Mazda3 which gets 19mpg.* The MB gets better economy, but needs premium gas, so it costs about as much to run
2) Sportyness.* I'm replacing the fun, 6-speed, small car aspect of the MB with Hemi Power.* I figure if I can't have a sporty small car, I'll have a beastly big car
3) Price.* They're all going to cost me the same $$$ per month.* Insurance is the same as well
4) They're all RWD, so they'll all be skittish in the winter.* I plan on getting a winter set of rims regardless of which car I get.
5) Interior comfort.* A bare C230 still has pimp options inside... so the heated seats, steering wheel controls, etc will still be in each option.* Similar seat-quality as well.

I'd go for the Charger RT.

I'd say go with the Chrysler 300C.

But of those 3 options I'd go with the magnum I guess.

Yeah, the 300c is just a bit more expensive than I'd like... a base 300c starts out about $4K above what a Charger does. That's why I left it out of the list. I still have a budget I gotta work with

I'd get a new jeep. With the hemi's in them.

They're great in the winter, and are hella fast.

If not, go with the charger in black. They just look so damn mean.

Too bad you can't get the SRT8, that'd be way nice. Damn insurance.

If not a big engine jeep, go with the charger.

the blindspots in the magnums are ridonkulous. i drove one in traverse city on a family vacation. you can't see for shit outside of them.

i wanna come when you get the new car man! i wanna go on the maiden voyage when you slam down on the pedal.

Went from a brand new 06 Silver Hatch to a Crispy 06 Hatch to a White 06 tC
I miss her

Re: Help Holeydonut pick a new car...

Man, I was actually thinking about this myself. The only two cars, that are reasonably affordable, with big ass engines, are indeed the Charger R/T and the Magnum R/T.

If I had to pick one of the two I really wouldn't be able to choose. I LOVE the Magnum though. It's a BEAST, really. I drove a 300C with the Hemi, and let me tell you, it can move, but I'd definately get an Exhaust and Intake, so it can really sound beastly.

Good Luck with whatever you choose.
