Stitches, Inside your mouth??

Has anyone ever gotten stitches inside their mouth??

I'm asking b/c I was at the beach today boogie boarding and I caught a wave, which then caught me and pile drove me in the sand/bottom of the ocean face first! I came out of the water and could feel my face/mouth swelling up. Spitting out blood as I was crying and draging my board to the shore. Parents are like, "oh you will be alright.. put a cold soda on your mouth" My jaw and ear hurt, I can feel the imprint of my bottom row of teeth on the inside of my bottom lip... Yeah, I'm Puerto Rican and have nice lips, but now! Angelina Jolie ain't got shit on me... Well... the pain was too much so I come home shower, take some pain killers and take a nap. When I wake up my face is killing me, I'm looking into my mouth at the damage and then sudden sharp pain!!! I look deeper down along the inside of my lip and I see a hole! Yup a hole, about 1/2 and inch wide and about 1/4 of a inch deep. Looks like a q tip could fit perfectly inside it. AHHH!!!
So, go see my aunt who is a nurse and she says, don't go to ER, not bleeding, but tommorow go see the dentist and they may have to put in 1-2 stitches!!! WTF!!! in my mouth!!!???

So.. I want to know if anyone else has had to have stitches in thier mouth.. how bad will it be???
I'm so scared!!

And pissed, b/c DUBS is in PR and we were gonna meet....

When I was 2 or 3, I fell and took a nasty fall... and I had stitches up the inside of my nostrils... I broke my nose and had a deviated septum... so if they can put stitched up my nose, I'm pretty sure they can put stitches inside a mouth.

I had stitches in my mouth when I was little....My tounge was attached too far up along the bottom of my mouth and they had to cut it so I could stick it out at people. :P

Stiches in the mouth is perfectly normal... if you've ever had wisdom teeth taken out, you've had them.

i 2nd that.

i've had stitches in my mouth....4 times for wisdom all four molers. and another time for a busted out tooth and lip hole.

they use this crazy string or something, that like....disolves. after it's been in there for like 3-4 weeks, it'll disolve, and you dont gotta worry about them taking out the stitches.

Went from a brand new 06 Silver Hatch to a Crispy 06 Hatch to a White 06 tC
I miss her

assuming they use the type that disolves. heh. I got to pick when my wisdom teeth came out. I went w/ disolved obviously because I was too lazy to have to go back.

Re: Stitches, Inside your mouth??

ditto on the stitches after the wisdom teeth came out. No problem for me. They weren't the kind that dissolved, and when the swelling in my mouth went down and I was using the full range of motion in my jaw again a couple of them popped. Kind of wierd to be yelling at a football game and have your gums pop. no pain or blood or anything, just a couple sutures popping. No problems getting them removed.

I had stitches on my tounge once, too. The doc numbed it up pretty good, but it still hurt when he damn near ripped my tounge out of my mouth to get to the wound. SOB said "now you know how the fish feels." I think I said "thuck you", but I can't remember. If I didn't, I was surely thinking it. Those weren't dissolvable either, but they popped out the next day when I was out at the bar.
