My uneducated guess is a brown recluse or some type of wolf spider. Ick... that would require one large boot, or a flame thrower like holeydonut said!

Wow, is that in your basement? *I'm glad those spiders cant live up here in Canada.

I think holeydonut has got it right with the WD40 + match. maybe a lighter would be better. *Or try a really big piece of paper towel.

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

Ack.... I should've heeded the warning in the title!

and, make that a really big piece of paper towel folded over about 4 times... that sucker might squirt a bit when you squish it!

It isn't a recluse... (Compare pictures... no spinnerettes, different pattern carapace... etc) http://spiders.ucr.edu/recluseid.html

Re: A little help please......arachnaphobes STAY OUT!!

Thanks for the replies.

I've never seen a real brown recluse spider, so I can't say it is or isn't. But I do know that they don't generally live in Northern California. Actually in the state of California period. They're more of a desert southwest spider from my understandings.

This is the 4th one I've found in about 2-3 weeks, and I'm getting concerned. I took pics of the last one I found a week or two ago, and asked at work. To no avail, I found this one this morning going to take a shower. I ran into a web in the door way and looked around and found this guy on my door jamb. So I snapped some shots.

ADaughen - if your wife knows, and you don't mind. Ask her about it, show her the pics and let me know. I'd appreciate it.

holy crap.... if you can get close enough to count the eyes - you can also get close enough to spray it with a gasoline/styrofoam mixture and light the bitch on fire.

I still hate spiders.
