Damn Semi tire retread

So my wife comes home yesterday and says come look at the Mazda, so I walk out there and she starts to tell me how on her way to work she ran square into a full size semi tire retread :x

I looked underneath and the whole undercarriage is beat to shit. It ripped a bunch of the heat shield out of the mounts, but luckily did not do much else. lucky it did not blow the front bumper apart too.

our Mazda only has 4500 miles on it :x :x I guess I was lucky because it did not cause a huge accident and my wife was fine, but DAMN those semi tires in the road.

**RANT OFF**

Re: Damn Semi tire retread

Sucks to hear that man, thats why I hate cheap truckers who buy retreads instead of new tires.

Was she able to get the name or license plate of the truck/trucking company? If she was she would be able to give them a call and have a pretty easy case against them. Most companies (mine included) like to settle those claims pretty fast as we know it was our fault.

Once again, sorry to hear about the accident

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

I hate when that happens. I've hit a couple in my truck and it isn't too friendly.

It's her car. she just lets me Mod it 8)

It was not her fault It could not be avoided. I too have hit/run over a retread in my commuter car(91 Mazda protege 256,0000 miles on original engine 8)) I changed lanes at night right into a retread. sometimes you cant avoid it, man or women

Re: Damn Semi tire retread

Couple of years ago I had a nicely mod'ed Ranger sport. (Black w/ blacked out windows, lights... System, lowered....etc) I was on my way to a truck show I was INVITED to be a feature truck in. Driving up I-94 in Michigan, a truck lost his re-tread directly in front of me. The retread went under the truck, and I really didn't think that much of it; until I got off the freeway and pulled over. This damn thing ripped my bumper cover off, destroyed both fog lights, riped my headlight covers off, and put a gash the size of Texas in my front tire.

Needless to say, I did not attend the show.

Advice: ALWAYS GET THE PLATE #, and pull over and check for damage right away!

Interesting BigTrucker...so if I ran over a retread that I knew came from truck "X", it would be 'easier' to file a claim w/ the trucking company rather than process a claim w/ my insurance company under comprehensive coverage.

Re: Damn Semi tire retread

Yea, those things suck. I got hit by a piece of tread that got kicked into the side of my car by another car.
2 nasty scratches in my paint and not a damn thing I can do about it. [GRRR!]*
