where did you reach top speed

I was wondering where everyone reached the top speed, track, back roads, highway? Did you only do it to find out the top speed and to say you got there or do you do it all the time? I want to reach the top speed but Im worried about getting caught and loosing my license.

Re: where did you reach top speed

ive hit 118mph(limiter) on many different roads. if you have nice backroads and dont have to worry about the pigs then do it there. highway is a good place too but you gotta watch out for people doing the speed limit that aren't paying attention to their rearview mirror LOL and from my experience some trunk drivers get pissed when you fly by em at 100+.. all depends on what kind of area you are in though cause ive done 118 on a straight road with a 25mph speed limit :? but there was no other traffic and no one anywhere to be seen.
just be careful and always watch out for things around you, have fun speeding

Re: where did you reach top speed

ummmm NJ parkway at 4am. No one, not even the 5-0, was out.

IMO it's ok to do it for testing purposes, if the road is dry, the air is clear, and most importantly, there is NO one else on the road.

Re: where did you reach top speed

On the highway, and backroads. The first time I did it I was testing, the following racing to some degree. Always late at night/early in the morning when there is little to no traffic in areas where cops can only be on the road, no speed traps.

, did take one of them for a demonstration on what happens if they cross the road when some one is coming at them doing 118 mph?

Re: where did you reach top speed

Coming back from Panama City the girls we went with decided it would be funny to try to lose us in their Civic. I let em have their fun for a few minutes, but kept em in sight. When traffic died down a little bit, got her up to about 110 for a good couple of minutes. Lol, it was funny seein the look on their faces as we came up on their ass and flew by em. They thought they lost us :P

Never hit the rev limiter @ 118 though.

i hit 118 on the 5 Fwy going down the ridge route, and on the 99 Fwy......and i think I hit it once on the 405 Fwy, although it might have already turned into the 5 at that time...

Re: where did you reach top speed

really isnt too difficult to hit 118 with most modern cars on the road today. I used to think going past 100mph was really cool and fast, but then my balls started to drop. Try getting a ride with some one going 150mph (in safe conditions of course), you'll see that 118 can be a safe and comfortable cruising speed for many cars.
