I think I angered a salesman

I was getting information on the Mazda3 via emails. I think I was specifically looking for quotes but all I was getting was "come in and see what we have". This one guy sent me an email asking me when I can come in so I finally said I could come in on a Friday at around noon. He never got back to me so I never went in. I figured if he really wanted to sell me a car he would make the effort to confirm. So I ended up going down around lunch time the following Tuesday. Some guy walked up when I got there, I looked at a car, test drove it, he gave me his card and a brochure and I left. Two days later (today) I get an email from the original guy asking me if I had come in, if not when could I come in. So I emailed him that I had come in and looked at a mazda3 and was considering my options. He responds with, did you ask if i was available when you got there?

What is that about. He doesnt respond to my email until a week later and he expects me to go out of my way and request that he show me the car? How do you think I should handle this?

No need to reply to any more of his emails. Just proceed with the salesman you spoke with when you went in person. (if you wish to continue working with him)

Kindly reply to his e-mail and let him know that if he wants to make a sale he should be all over the follow up e-mails and quick to respond. He lost you as a customer and its all his fault. But you would be the nice guy to let him know what he did wrong so he doesn't make that mistake again...of course he'll probably just get more angry about hearing how he screwed up.

Re: I think I angered a salesman

you are free to buy your car from whatever salesman you want. Its not all that cool if the guy via email really put in an effort to give you information/discussed thigns, but if all he said was "come in and see what we have", he didn't help you, and you are entitled to find someone who will help you to buy the car from. These guys work on commission, and they are cut-throat. Buy from whoever you want, hell, play them back and forth off of each other. Ethical, maybe, but legal, yes. Buy from the salesman who helped you out, if that was the guy over email, you should buy form him (don't have to, this is opinion at this points), but if the email guy was unhelpful, and the guy you talked to in person was, buy from who helped you, particularyl if he didn't get back to you to confirm. . .

re

Im going to send him an email explaining the situation. I went back and checked out the email history to see what he had done.

June 13th Tuesday.......We have some Mazda 3s in stock. Let me know when you can come in and test drive one

June 14th Wednesday.. I send him an email.......I can probably come in on Friday around noon

June 20th Tuesday I go to the dealer and talk with other guy

June 22nd Thursday.......email...Did you come in and i was busy or if you havent come in yet when can you
I did come in and now Im considering my options
Did you ask if I was availabe when you came in

Also in the emails it says he is the internet sales manager so I would probably buy from him anyways since I was going to try and get a quote of eactly what I want via email. He wasnt any help but the guy that showed me the car didnt seem to competant either. When I was messing with the raido he didnt even know where to look to see what station it was on.

Re: I think I angered a salesman

You could even take it a step farther and play the salemen then go to another dealer and ask them to beat the other dealerships price.
