any guys dieting?

any guys here ever go on a diet?

I'm on a mission to try and drop 15 lbs. My goal is 126 Lbs MAX. which is the top of the featherweight division. or roughly 130lbs (-10lbs) because I can drop the 4 lbs before a fight thorugh water weight

I currently sit at 140lbs 5'-6". I don't have a belly, but I dont have a visible 6 pack either

I tend to eat a lot...I probably consume in the area of 4000calories a day

basically, whats a good food diet that works?(nothing drastic) I ate a small fish meal last night and woke up starving half to death lol.

I hear chicken and rice is good...but can get boring fast. my other goal is to seriously cut down the amounts of food I take in.

any suggestions?

Re: any guys dieting?

id recommend jogging/running. jogging with eating less high caloric foods. but you still need your carbs.

another way you can drop 15 pounds easy like how hollywood and models do it: snort coke for a month.

I am not a guy but a girl that is very health concious.* You don't need to really cut down food intake because it will just come back to bite you in the butt plus you will always be hungry and eat more than what you realize because you will keep snacking on this or that becaues you haven't had a meal....you need to eat 6 small meals a day.* The more times you eat the more and more you keep your metabolism going which means you will burn more calories and fat.*

You want to cut out un natural sugar and get sugar from food and fruits naturally.* Also eating things like cottage cheese with pineapple for lunch with a half a turkey sandwich is an example of a meal.* Have veggies for a snack and try to stay away from carrots because they are not very good for you calorie wise.* Breakfast you should try to eat oatmeal because oatmeal or any oat grain cereal is really good.* Also, I have found that if you cut out most red meats and stick to turkey, chicken, and fish you are better off.* Also, you can never get enough 'good' dairy like skim milk, cottage cheese, low fat yougurt, and some cheese.*

It isn't hard to lose weight its just how you do it.* OH...don't drink juice or pop...they are so bad for you.* WATER WATER WATER and more WATER.*

Re: any guys dieting?

I have had shin splints for the last 4-5 weeks so runing isnt an option until it heals. when it does heal I will be doing lots of running and 15 minutes of jump rope per day. as well as general boxing foot work excercise. *until then, I need to start drpping weight through otehr means. *Ive also read jogging alone will only drop a portion of weight until it plateaus.

It looks liek I wont be jogging full bore for at least another 2 weeks. *short jogs might resume next week.

I'm debating whether or not I should start lifting weight as well. I tend to pack on muscle mass fairly quick (i went from 115 to 130 in a couple months when I worked out hardcore and i went from 130-145 after 3 months of wall climbing) of course, that also includes all the extra food i pack in due to extreme hunger after a work out

I see you suggest milk. do you realize the we are the only mamal that drinks another mamals milk? Cow's milk is meant for their calfs which are roughly 1500-2000 poinds. You should drink water, more importantly you should drinl half of your body weight in ounces per day. That is if you weigh 150lbs you should be drinking 75 ounces of water per day. You should also not drink with meals, stop drinking 30 minutes before and drink again 30 minutes after a meal. I tried this and just from quitting drinking soda and drinking water lost 10lbs in the first month without changing any other way I eat. Another thing I learned from the sam person is that urine should be clear, if it's not you're not drinking enough water. The person I learned this from is a VERY popular speaker whom I went to see for a 5 day siminar in LA with the final day being in the Kodak Theater while he was reording for a new DVD.

lately, I've been trying to eat lots of fish. salmon mainly. as for cutting down the amounts of food. It does work a little for me...and yes its true...I do get hungry more often but I eat an apple or a banana until my next meal.

Re: any guys dieting?

I've lost 35 pounds in the last 2 and a half months. I'm 6'2" and went from 235ish to a little over 200, and still going. It was pretty simple. I play basketball at least twice a week. I diet during the week and eat what I want on the weekends (although I don't binge, of course). I eat fruits and vegetables and whole grains. I don't count calories too closely, and I agree that healthy strategic snacking helps maintain metabolism. I avoid deep fried or breaded things. I also avoid white flour in favor wheat flour. Lean beef, or any white meat (skinless) and low fat dairy are all game. I use only canola or olive oils to cook, they have better fats in them. Lots of water. I agree with most everything said so far. Go for the natural stuff and not the stuff that comes from the snack food aisle at the store. But then again, I was pretty overweight, so this diet may not help someone who is already fairly skinny. Exercise and eat smaller portions of better foods. It really is that easy, but everyone in America wants to have their cake and eat it too.... literally.

Re: any guys dieting?

well it seems that you are very healty as it is. Now it seems that you want to loose fat since you will need the muscles for your fights. so best thing to do is stay away from fat and sugars, keep the carbs because you will need them for your workouts. best way to loose fat though is sld or slt...runner's terms for long slow distances or long slow time....keep your h/r at about 70-80% (about 150-170 bpm for a 23yo) if you say that you can pack muscle fairly fast is because perhaps you have a mesomorph body and that will help you out a lot.
