Need a new bedroom Home Theater system

Alright guys, I'm looking for a new home theater system in the $500 range, for my bedroom. Will connect to my computers and my TV. Must accept analog & optical inputs. Not necessary to have a DVD player or anything like that - just receiver and speakers will do.

Recommendations?

My recommendation is that you're not using your bedroom as it was intended...way to go, studmuffin.

But seriously any 5.1 HTIB should be sufficient. I recommend Yamaha.

well I could park my car with the 5.1 dolby digital surround sound in your bedroom. But that system is alittle more than you're looking to spend.. about $8000.00 more. *You might look for the home theater in a box solution at most BOX stores.

I have a much more serious HT system in my living room (Pioneer VSX-D850S, AR11 mains, AR PS2062 rears, CSW CenterStage, etc).

I was looking at the Denon DHT-486DV 7.1 system, but that's a bit over what I want to pay (~$600), plus I'd like other recommendations in general.

well you could always buy a multi zone reciever to replace youre living room reciever. then run in wall speakers in the bedroom along with the iPORT (see it here ....http://www.iportmusic.com/iport.html) in wall iPOD docking station (if you run iPOD).

Re: Need a new bedroom Home Theater system

How about the Onkyo HT-S780. It's 7.1. Does all current decoding. THD is 0.08% over a decent frequency range (unlike what you'd find on most cheap systems). It seems to be the system of choice as far as HTIB goes (on AVS Forum). It's $429.99 at Circuit City right now.

You really can't go wrong with Denon, Onkyo, Harmon Kardon. And they all have HTIBs (Which are only acceptable as a second system )

You can't go wrong with either Denon or Onkyo. The Denon S model line has some nice features, but I know it is pretty pricey. As far as Onkyo goes, the HT-S780 is also a good set up. If space is an issue, I don't recommend it. I would also check out the Sony Dream systems. The Sony DAV-FX100 is a good option. I suggest you go walk around your local Home Audio store and look at the sizes, prices, specs and sound quality of multiple set ups and make a choice that fits you.

Re: Need a new bedroom Home Theater system

Once upon a time I bought a CSW MegaWorks (not really HTIB, but it fit my needs), which was a nice system for the price, but it had no digital inputs - only analog 5.1 inputs, which is freakin retarded. So I returned it.
