Need Some Opinions Please...

A few weeks ago, my wife and I ate dinner at Fazoli's Restaurant (sort of like a fast food Italian joint). While I awaited wifey's arrival (both was coming from work), I saw a contest box in the corner of the lil' lobby. It was a chance to win a mini vacation at Massanutten Resort (Southwest part of VA). Well, I was bored waiting and said, "what the heck!" and filled out an entry form. Then, we ate and thought nothing about it.

Today, I received a call from Massanutten's headquarters being advised that my entry was chosen as the winner. Interesting. Lady went on to explain we won a 3 night, 4 day vacation to this resort. She ran down an outline of the resort and what it all offered. I had won free housing (in one of their villas) and free activities. We just have to pay for transportation (about a 90-120 minute drive) and food costs.

So, lady just said we need to experience a 90-minute tour and presentation after we checkin. That is what screamed timeshare to me. Also, we had to put down a $75 REFUNDable (at least she said it was) deposit to secure the spot on the selected days that we'd receive back at check-in time.

After selecting some dates, she gave me her full name, telephone number, and website to find out more info (www.massresort.com). Also, said I'd receive a confirmation letter in a few days with all the specifics.

Does this seem 'legit' to everyone reading this? We really will not know until we make the trip, but...sounds legit to me (I think). I mean, I can sit through a 1-2 hour presentation to just say "we'll think about it as we enjoy our mini-vacation" and take advantage of their facilities. Right?

Just wanted to get some input...

Re: Need Some Opinions Please...

It's legit and it is a timeshare resort. My experience with these is always good, just tell them as soon as you are divided one on one with a sales person that you are NOT intrested and they will normally be pretty cool.
Go soon before the snow is all gone from the slopes , take some time to tour Harrisonburg while you are there and check out the campus at JMU.
PM me if you have any other questions that I could answer.

@maudi3 - thanks for the input. Your info. makes me mucho happy. I figured that it WAS legit and I just had to tell the timeshare representative that we are NOT interested and we'd have no problem enjoying our stay there.

The resort seems to have a MILLION AND ONE things to do (even if you do not ski). I'm quite impressed. I do hear Harrisonburg is a cool place to hang out. Thanks again...

Keep the opinions coming...
