Laptop help please......

I'm thinking of getting a laptop..... The one I'm looking at is a DELL 1505... It's got a 15" widescreen, weighs 6 pounds. Comes with a DUO Core processor, 1GB RAM, 60 GB HD, DVD burner.... priced at $1025 Plus tax & no shipping... My question is does anyone here have one or does anyone have any better ones to suggest.... Thanks

for what your getting and everything else, thats not a bad deal...however, I told myself I will never buy dell agian laptop desktop, w/e. You all you pay for is the name/service. Unless you don't know much about computers its good, but if you know what you're doing, pain in the ass.

Overal though, check the same specs with other companies and see the different in price. Go for what ever is cheaper or the dell if you need the customer service.

how fast is the proc? that sounds like a good deal. Are you sure it's a DVD burner and not a CD-RW/DVD?

The processor is the new Dual Core T2300 1.66 GHz, Level 2 cache 2 MB, Front side bus 667 MHz...

The burner is an 8x CD/DVD, (DVD+/-RW) with double layer, DVD+R write capability..

The DELL seems like a pretty good deal.. HP wants about $150 more for about the same setup... I can get a Toshiba M55-S3315 at Circuit City for $1050 with a 14" screen (5 lbs.) and a Pentium M processor P740 1.7 GHz.... But I think I'm leaning twoards the Dell....

Don't worry...it will come....it will come...better yet, you'll be able to have that laptop in your sunglasses and be able to control via mind waves...you'll see.

well we build desktops ourselves.... the only reason we cant build laptops ourselves is the lack of standardization.. if a couple motherboard companies, a few case manufacturers, would get together and create a few standardized sizes and use them we could be building our own laptops... the ram and hdds are standard sizes already... all thats left is vid cards and psus which wouldnt be hard at all

Seriously, though at least you can buy memory and harddrives because they rape you on the cost of those when you get them installed with the laptop.

I'm going to get the Compaq V2000T with the best Core Duo they offer, and then buy 2GB of harddrive and 100GB 7200RPM harddrive seperately. In the end I will save close to 300 bucks, I love Newegg.com .

Re: Laptop help please......

i bought a Dell Inspiron 5150 with a 3.2 ghz hyperthreading processor, 60gb hard drive, dvd burner, 512 ram and I paid 1500 a year ago. I think you should be getting something faster for the price your paying but thats just my opinion.
