Re: Man survives crash - Caught on video - Long Island Expressway

This is the problem you wind up with when the state de-regulates the trucking industry. Most all big rigs that are in front of you, in back of you or along side of you have something wrong with them. Most sand & gravel trailers are overweight. Some 18 wheelers don't even have all the brakes installed at each wheel. Most have bald tires. And the list goes on and on... One of the worst things you can do is drive in front of a big rig on the highway. In an emergency, do you really think he is going to stop in time ? Probably not.. He will just run right over the top of your car. Stay away from these big rigs when your on the highway, most of the drivers haven't slept in days and their log books are all dummied up.....

dam... that's one benefit of a car with a low seating position, for all those times you will be pulled under the trailer.

yeah, too bad they didn't have the Cervical Collar put on him correctly. Stupid people. Really if he were in the hospital they should've put him in an aspen collar.

The Drive Cam system is really cool actually, I know some ambulance companies that use it or something similar. You can go in and set all of the limits you want it to have concerning acceleration, deceleration, turning, etc. It can be set up so that as it approaches one of your preset limits it starts making a clicking noise out of a speaker, and when it breaches the limit it beeps at you. Or you can just turn that off so the driver doesn't know when they're screwing up. Overall it makes the people that drive things drive a little better. The camera is a looping digital that continuously records. Anytime it sees one of those preset limits being breached it automatically saves the past 45 seconds, and the next 45 seconds. Some of the systems also have a rear facing camera into the passenger compartment. It would be interesting to see the faces of the people in the bus since they probably didn't have seat belts.
