Picked up a new toy

Got a new Compaq Laptop!*

Key features:
  • AMD Turion 64 ML-34 1.8GHz Processor, 1MB L2 cache, 1800MHz system bus

  • 1024MB DDR (Exp. To 2GB)

  • 100GB Hard Drive

  • 128MB Shared ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Graphics

  • 12-cell battery  up to 8 hour battery life!

  • Weighs only 5.3 lbs

  • 14" WXGA High-Def Brightview Widescreen (1280 x 768 native resolution)

  • 54g 802.11b/g WLAN With 125HSM/Speedbooster

  • Altec-lansing speakers

  • Dual-layer DVD burner with lightscribe technology, burn images right onto the disc!!
Full specs.

Over-all this is a powerful little laptop and so far I got 6.5 hours on the battery when setting it up (a million restarts and lots of WiFi use for updates).* The battery does sit a little higher but that's nice because it cools itself properly with some extra airflow underneath. Should easily get 7.5 - 8 hours of battery with regular use out of it. Very impressed with this little guy, can't believe how light it is with the big battery.* The best part is I picked it up the day it was released for $1400 CAD.* You can't beat that for these specs!* I'd highly recommend this laptop to anyone.* And I know what some of you might be thinking....why the hell get a laptop now when Vista is just over 6 months away....of course I got the extended warranty from FutureShop....so when Vista does eventually come out this thing is going to magically break itself.

Re: Picked up a new toy

Wait, why can't you just delete the OS off your Compaq, and when Vista comes out just put it on?

Thats pretty wicked. I wouldn't mind upgrading my laptop to one like that.

Re: Picked up a new toy

Not quite a laptop, but I just got a PSP off of eBay, and I'm very happy with it. I always wanted a notebook but I'm happy with a PSP that costs a lot less. It's neat being able to suf the net from parking lots, etc.

That being said and laptop's a little more versatile, hope you enjoy it!

Just so you know, it takes a long time for lightscribe to do the covers, but It's worth it. A simple Font, and Labeling of a CD with the MOST EASIEST font takes like 8 to 10 minutes.

Coz if he claims the warranty later, he can just get a new laptop with Vista pre-installed plus whatever new upgrades on the laptop.

Re: Picked up a new toy

Scratch that, I said it takes 8-10 minutes, more like 20-25 minutes just to burn a font on the CD.
Imagine putting an entire graphic design on the CD. that would take you all year to do.
