Verizon Wireless Phones

So it's time to upgrade phones. I'm going with Verizon and I'll be getting a phone using new every two, just don't tell my sister who is actually eligible for it, I'm switching from Cingular and we're going on a family plan.

So I'm looking for reccomendations. Requirements: Bluetooth and Camera. Form doesn't matter, I'd like a PDA, but I don't know if I want that in my pocket, and if it will even fit in my cell pocket.

What I'm looking at and how much, links from phonescoop

LG VX-8100 Free after rebate
Motorola E815 $50
LG VX-9800 $100
Motorola Razr V3c $100
Samsung A950 $100
Blackberry 7130 $200
Palm Treo 650 $200

Any advice on what to look at would be appreciated. The lower the cost the better, but I don't mind spending money on a phone I'll be keeping for a while.

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

Razr is a good phone...very lim so it can be kept in a pocket without taking too much space...Camera is surprisingly good as well... I currently have a Black Razr and love it....

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

other than the "wow factor" the razr isn't anything special. Personally i think it's kinda big. The E815 is an overall better phone (for verizon anyway) but i'm not too impressed with it. I've got the 710 now and my plan is ending soon-i'm also up for the Ne2 but i'm just not impressed with any of the phones out there right now. I'm actually considering switching to cingular when my plan ends in feb if i don't find something i like

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

well do you need a pda phone like the last 2? will you get a lot of use out of it? if you will then i would go wth the last one. i think youo can get a belp clip for this phone..... you get used to a big phone like that... i have the sidekick and i got used to it...

if you dont need a phone like that then i would go with the Razr..... it doesnt look like a bad phone.. i have nextel so i cant use any of those phones

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

I don't need a PDA phone, but I'd like to have it. I've been contemplating getting a PDA recently, and if I had it with the phone, it would be nice.

I agree that the phones are lacking, but the coverage is why I'm switching. I get crappy reception most of the places with Cingular and can't use the phone inside 90% of the building I'm in most of the day. Plus, everyone can be on one plan now, my sis at UNC can't get reception with anyone but Verizon in her place, and we get a discount on Verizon. The phones are better on Cingular, I really like the Sony W600 on Cingular. I could even get it pretty cheap, when I called Cingular to make sure the contract was up so problems didn't come up later, and they were offering me all kinds of stuff to stay.

The Razr camera for cingular/t-mobile V3= 0.3 megapixel.* Razr camera for Verizon V3c = 1.3 megapixel.

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

If you don't do a lot of TXT msging, don't get the VX9800, Treo, or Blackberry. Remember also that data plans for the Treo & Blackberry are expensive. You can't go wrong with the E815, RAZRor VX8100 - but I find the RAZR to be a really weird phone.

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

LG is a good brand that makes good, cheap phones. I have Verizon, and used to have an LG phone...loved it. Then, I was dumb and got an Audiovox...POS! I've had it replaced twice now (with the same phone, sadly). However, plan expires in March so I will be upgrading then...probably go back to an LG.

Re: Verizon Wireless Phones

I'd probably get the VX8100 over the E815, unless you need to do a lot of phone to computer bluetooth syncing - the E815 is easier to get around the VZW blocks on (and will sync iCal and Address Book through iSync without any modification, if you have a Mac). The VX8100 has a lot more memory, has a miniSD slot (instead of microSD), etc.
