Were you indoctrinated in elementary school??? Or High School even

In elementary did you ever play dress up, and wear turbans, or other garments of third world countries? While the teacher smiled and looked on because we were learning diversity. I did, except we took a field trip to a place, where it was just like out of “It’s a small world” ride at Disneyland.

In High School we had a class, with a Jesus looking liberal hippie. And all day we would do trust exercises. And one involved staring into the eyes of another person without laughing. He told us that we could see peoples souls if we did that.

I’m not sure what the value of this class was. But we seem to always end up taking class trips to the Local Artist Communes, Where we could admire the performance art and art installations of some great Houston artist. And we were supposed to keep a sketch journal and so some sketches. At the end of the year we were required to do a performance for the entire school on what we learned, which was nothing as far as I know.

What are some of your indoctrination stories?

My elementary school was boring - they just told us not to hate each other and then told us to go play dodgeball each day during gym class.

I remember a Asian girl in my class, named Bow Dang. And all the other girls would call her Bow Wow. or dog. they were not very tolerant or diverse.

I remember some tests they had me do. The school wanted to jump me a couple grades b/c I knew how to read/spell better than the teacher.

Funny thing... parents reading to their children actually works. That and I kept asking my grandma for the definitions of words. After the ~100th word, she gave me a dictionary and told me to go find out. That was started pretty early, by the 3rd grade I was reading on a 6th grade level. 7th grade, reading on a graduate level.

I grew up in Oregon (a very hippie state) and we didn't do any of that. Field trips and such, of course, but looking into the eyes of a classmate to see their soul? And here I thought that all you guys in Texas concentrated on was football!!
