scam email

So I recieved the following email today.. Edited for names and such.

Attn.(MY NAME),

I am Barrister (scammers name), a solicitor at law. I am
the personal attorney to (scammers client), a native of
your country, who used to work with Ocean Energy
Petroleum Company in Nigeria as a contractor;
Herein-after shall be referred to as my client.

On the 21st of April 2000, my client, his wife and
their three children were involved in a car accident
along Sagbama express road. All occupants of the
vehicle unfortunately lost their lives. Since then I
have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate
any of my clients extended relatives. This has also
proved unsuccessful.

After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided
to track any of his relatives over the Internet. I got
your contact on the internet and therefore decided to
contact you. I have contacted you to assist in
repatriating the money and property left behind by my
client before they get confiscated or declared
unserviceable by the bank where this huge deposit were
lodged.

Particularly, the Diamond Trust Finance Company, where
the deceased had an account valued at about US$7.5
Million dollars has issued me a notice to provide the
next of kin or have the account confiscated within the
next twenty-one official working days.

Since l have been unsuccessful in locating his
relatives for over 5 years now, I seek your consent to
present you as the next of kin of the deceased so that
the proceeds of this account valued at US$7.5 Million
dollars can be paid to you, and then you and I can
share the money. 60% is for me and 40% for you. I will
produce all necessary legal documents that can be used
to backup any claim we may make.

All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us
see this deal through. I guarantee that this will be
executed under a legitimate arrangement that will
protect you from any breach of the law.

Please get in touch with me by my email address:
(Scammers email)

to enable us discuss further. And do please give me your
direct telephone and fax for me to call you.

Best regards

(scammers name)

Is there some place you are supposed to send these kind of emails besides the trash?

Re: scam email

What's sad is that some people actually buy into these scam email. I swear I have a friend who forwards every single email that asks to "foward to as many people as you can" or "send money to so and so and save little Billy's life". Ugh.

Re: scam email

What's even funnier is I got this email and my family's name is only associated with my family. There isn't any other family in the world with our last name since my grandfather was an orphan and was named from an Italian city. Very interesting.....

Re: scam email

Forward the entire email to [email protected] (from http://www.ftc.gov/spam/)

Also, you can report it to the email service it came from; usually "[email protected]sender's domain" For example, if the email was sent from '[email protected]', forward the entire message to '[email protected]'
