Need help with computer stuff

Does anyone know if they make a USB hub with a selector button on it thats very slim and small? 2 ports or more would be great, and self powered is a must. so far all i come across are ones that dont have a selector button or switch on them. like this one:

2005 Mustang GT. 300hp/320 ft.lbs. Torque.

In this case a USB Hub is used to add additional USB ports to a system just as a network HUB would be to share your network connection between additional computers. I've not seen selectable USB hubs.

Not to continue the harping, but they're right - I don't think you're going to find one with a selector. *The idea is to not have to worry about switching inbetween devices; they can all play.

Are you trying to control the access to a device on the hub, or something like that? *You should be able to just disconnect the device (but do it the right way; use the eject icon in the system tray) and plug it back in at will..

Re: Need help with computer stuff

I run the IT dept for my local school district (10 locations, 2500 computers) and the first thing I did when I took the job was get rid of those old parallel printer selector hubs. They sucked!!! I had to bring them into the new century and introduce the "networked printer concept"

Yeah..I'm the HS tech for the 800 systems at one high school, we had a butt-load of those A/B switches...departments are haiting me for telling them to cough up the dough for a networkable laser and a couple new drops....

Re: Need help with computer stuff

Tech? Me :-) I'm the tech for all the systems, a/v, pretty much anything conntected with a wire at my school. Each of the 4 high schools has a tech. I've got the biggest school. 2800 students, 180 staff, I'd say around 500 desktops and around 200 laptops. The district is a 4/1 ratio for students to computers, we're just under it.

Re: Need help with computer stuff

That's about right. We got 3 techs for the entire district. Each of them take care of about 850 computers.
