Please help a Computer n00b...

So about 2 weeks ago my home computer just froze out of nowhere and I tried to restart, reboot and all of that crap and it wouldn't work. Wouldn't turn on, nothing. I called Dell and they claimed my motherboard was shoot, no big deal under warranty. So I get my new motherboard last night and install it and now the damn thing wont start up again. All of the lights come on but it doesn't fully boot up. I've checked all of my connections two or three times and they are all fine. Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be? My Cd Drive light, and the other two lights stay on as soon as I turn on the Computer and nothing happens. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: Please help a Computer n00b...

did you use ALL of the screws when you put the new one in? *If you didn't, the motherboard could be making intermittent contact with a mounting point and causing a short.

If that's not it, do this: unplug all your devices so that the ONLY things plugged into the board are the CPU and RAM (and video card, if it's not built in to the board). *Turn it on. *It should at least POST and give you a single beep before telling you that it can't find a disk.

If it's beeping more than once, in some kind of pattern, tell us what it is or look up the beep codes on Dell's website.

Doesn't do a damn thing. When I press the power button the only thing it's doing it sitting there. The screen is on hybernation mode and the fan for the processor is running. The CD drive light stays on, along with the other two lights in the front of the cpu.

It's connected. Nothing spins. The CPU turns on but nothing happens. The lights just stay on. It's strange. With my old motherboard everything spinned like normal.

Dude here's the plan:

1) Grab a beer
2) Grab some porn
3) Commence "wetting" of motherboard
4) Press power button
5) Finish beer.

Titanium Grey HB 5 spd, ABS, Moonroof, Leather seats, Exel RS-GT 17x7.0 Hyperblack 225/45/17 Azenis RT-615, Racing Beat Front/Rear Sway + Endlinks, Mazdaspeed MSP3 Coilovers, 88 AWR Mount, Apexcone 6000k HID, I deturboed my car and removed my built engine. I'm now stock powertrain + an Injen.
