Video Card Recommendations

It has come time to upgrade my video card. I need a PCI Express. My budget is $200, but the less the better. I play FPS like Farcry and COD2(the reason I'm upgrading). I've built computers and can do the install myself.

What I've been looking at so far

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814142052 but I'm open to suggestions.

Does anyone have anyone have experience with Connect3D?

Thanks In Advance.

Good call, reviews I have read of these shows the geforce being better value for the $$ over the ATI. And New Egg rocks!! Bought both my 19" LCD's from them.

Re: Video Card Recommendations

For a bit less, you can get the 6600 GT that also has the super-fast GDDR3 memory. Don't let the fact that it only has 128 Mb of video ram turn you off... it's a fast card. I have it myself and it plays Doom 3 and Quake 4 very welll (as long as the resolution isn't bumped up too high). In multiplayer Quake 4, I get the full speed (it hits the 60 fps limit that the game has built in) amd Doom 3 gets similar results. Quake 3 runs at a constant 90 fps (again, limited by the game). I think it's a pretty good value, and it's SLI capable.

Connect3D makes good cards- since they first started.* No big problems with them.* I've had 3 a few years back.

As much as i love ATI, the problem with them now is once you want more power from their current gen cards, you'll need a new motherboard.* I have an ASUS SLI Premium now so I just got the XFX 6800GS 256MB and from the benchmarks, it ranks better than the 6800GTs and if i need more power, i just pop another one in later down the road, when they're gonna be around $149.

It's your choice, but if you want better flexibility down the road and at that $200 price point- i would suggest the slightly more expensive XFX 6800GS since it's overclocked out of the box by a lot while having a warranty.

Re: Video Card Recommendations

I suggest the x800xl PCI-E card, if u dont care about SM 3.0, then i suggest u get the x800xl becuase its the best performance for the price (i think only 2-3 games even use SM 3.0)

I now own a 2008 350z Base MT
