Mercedes pile-up at safety demonstration

The new Mercedes S class has a sophisticated radar-based braking system - when it works. A TV demonstration ended up in a 3-car pile-up when the S-class' safety radar failed.

well, I'm sure I'll get flamed for this....but the same goes for rain-sensing windshield wipers and auto headlights. *When I'm ready for my wipers to wipe and my my headlights to shine, I'll handle it.

^^^ I just asked my boss this question. His reply:

"Well, I know the feeling, sometimes your servant can't reach down quick enough to apply pressure to your foot."

Have you had this feature on your car? Trust me, on long trips the auto wipers are the shit. Especially when you end up behind a truck and you suddenly get a huge gush of water on you windshied, it's nice for it to take the water away before you've even thought of putting on the wipers.

Re: Mercedes pile-up at safety demonstration

Actually, was driving around in a Mercedes S class years ago when it began to sprinkle. About the time I reached for the switch, the wipers came on. It's just unnecessary, I think.
