Re: BMX Riders??

Used to be -- way back in the days of Dino DeLucia, Schwinn Predators, Haros, CWs, Skyway pegs, ACS rotors, etc. I was never what I would consider "hardcore" -- more of a "suburbanite" who read a lot of mags.

Now I'm a road bike guy all the way...

That's cool man. My very first bmx bike was a Schwinn which cost me around $1,000.

Re: BMX Riders??

Way back in the day 20+ years ago I raced in the ABA. I had many bikes but started racing on a Torker. Then a GHP( Greg Hill Products) and I hade a Race INC cruiser I won in a raffle and then rode cruiser class in. I have a shit load of trophies in the attic. My father bought a van just to go to races in and haul bikes, tools and shit load of wheels and tires and the like. I have a crazy "on the way to the BMX races" story on this board some place.

Today at age 32 I still have one bmx bike i ride when i take my dog for runs, its a Nyquist R24. Nothing fancy but fun to ride.

Re: BMX Riders??

Hah! I've always wanted to race but I just stuck with the skatepark and dirt jumping stuff. My friend races downhill and it's pretty intense to watch him going 40mph on a bike clearing 16ft. gaps! As for transporting my bike, I ride with my bro in his VW cuz its more ergonomic storage wise and we usually pack 4 bikes in there.

Re: BMX Riders??

Just wanted to add this. When I lived in Modesto, CA a couple years ago I got a ticket for $100 for not wearing a helmet. Now that's just freakin ridiculous. Damn motorcycle cops have nothing else to do than harass people! :x

Re: BMX Riders??

My brother just recently quit racing last year. He raced ABA for a while and then NBL. I loved going there to watch him race and it sucks now that he quit. But he does still ride and stuff. I wanted to get into it but my parents wouldn't let me.

there. fixed that for you.

On-topic, I used to race all the time back in the day (early 80's). So did my girlfriend. Here's a picture of us:

it was great. We used to ride all the time. One time, we found a bunch of illegal walkie-talkies and foiled a bank robbery. But then the bad guys chased us all over town. We had to ride down a waterslide with our bikes to get away. DAMN, I miss the old days.

Yah but dude I was riding on the sidewalk next to my house when I got that ticket. Love that shirt, "BMX Bandits."
