paypal question

I recently signed up for paypal account... and have entered by bank account info to get verified. I have also entered credit card info. b/c I want to pay with credit card for future purchases thru paypal. However, when I try to send money using credit card, paypal gives me a message saying that sellers with personal accounts cannot receive credit card payments, and that best way to do buy is to use bank account payment.

I have heard some stories where it is crucial to pay with credit card in case transactions go wrong. With credit card, I am better protected... (say I am buying $1000 wheels from a forum member, but never receive them). However, paypal says that I cannot pay using credit card when seller has a personal account. I am confused here... any advice on how to purchase safely?

Re: paypal question

Well, personal accounts do not take credit cards because of the fees involved. If the seller does not upgrade his account then you are stuck paying the other way. Really the safest way is COD. That way you know the product is in your hands once you give the driver the money. Unfortunately, not many sellers do this. Any other way to pay will have it's risks. I have done over 300 transactions on Paypal both with credit card and bank transfer with no issues to date.

Hope this helps.

Re: paypal question

If you are buying off of ebay, the sellers will state sometimes that they will only accept cash payments and not credit card payments. I have had that happen before as well.
I have been using paypal for a few years and done over 300 transactions and only had one issue.
Just make sure you have good communication with the other person, which seems to be essential.

Have fun!

Cash on Delivery. Usually the seller will get the money from the shipping company.

Re: paypal question

Yeah that problem is the sellers, not yours. Many sellers do not want to upgrade to Business/Premeir accounts because they take a chunk of the money.

Re: paypal question

You have to confirm your address with your credit card's address on file. No biggy, just go through Paypal's directions on that, and you'll be set.
