People who don't know how to use foglights...

I was driving my Mazda3 around a bit at night a few nights ago, and I swear, people have serious abusive-issues when it comes to using foglights. This guy in an Audi had his headlights turned OFF, yet his tiny, worthless foglights turned ON. I hardly saw him coming because the lack of his lights. Learn to drive, buddy. I also hate drivers - especially Mazda3 drivers - that drive with both their headlights and foglights turned on at night - even without any fog. I know foglights are cool and sporty and all, but there's no need to blind other drivers by turning on every light possible on your front-end. I've used my foglights about 3 times in 5 months - all 3 times when there actually was heavy fog. I have never seen a reason to use foglights and the theory that you can "see more" with them on is pretty debatable.

No offense to those of you on here that love to drive with your fog lights 24/7, but remind yourself that I'm not the only driver annoyed by others using foglights when there's no need to. And - if you're one of those guys that drives with foglights on and headlights off - get a grip, seriously.

Techincally the lights on the Mazda3 arent fog lights at all. They are second driving lights in a fog position. Because they emit so much light and have no tint they dont really quailify as fog lights just driving lights

I run with them on at night to make sure the idiot drivers in Dallas see me coming and yield instead of pulling out in front of me. I don't care if they're cool or not..I just want to be seen.
Those 'fog lights' actually do no good in fog. They emit white light which just makes visibility worse.

Re: People who don't know how to use foglights...

I have HID's anyhow, so them suckers had better see me coming, but at the same time, I agree. I drive with mine on so others can see me coming. I certainly do not need more light with the system I have now, although I am considering getting ID fogs just so my front end matches. And led indicators for the sides to match the tails.... Oh crap there I go. I promised myself I wasnt going to "modify" this car.

Agreed. My "fog"lights are even VERY yellow now but they still don't do much in fog. I use them all the time after dusk in NJ because the roads are just crazy here and I want to stand out as much as possible. If people notice me better, they will be less likely to crash into me. When I go to the sane roads of PA, though, I will use them less - pretty much in rainy/foggy weather. I don't see how they're blinding people though... and with the definied cutoff for the headlight system, I think the fogs help other people realize how close I really am to their car. They're definitely more for me to be seen than for me to see.
