Don't have access to Carfax, but I do have access to Nissan vin numbers.* Here's some info on this vin:

1997 Nissan 2WD XE pickup, reg. cab
2.4l 4 cyl, AT, Cal. emissions
Production date of 08/97

Options include:*
A/C
Chrome package (bumpers, mirrors, WS moulding, door handles, light surrounds)
Body side striping
Sliding R window
Power steering
14" alloy wheels W/215/70R14 tires
Tachometer

Sounds like a pretty nice truck (except for the slushbox )

I have a '94 version of this same truck and definately recommend one to anybody looking for a no-frills, dependable little work truck.* Gas mileage isn't the greatest on these things, you can realistically expect 22-23mpg in combined driving, higher if you drive more highway miles.

In good shape this model truck will fetch around $3,500, a little more if low mileage.

Re: CarFAX Report Please Help, Vin# 1N6SD11S2VC430652

hey tom

thanks for the help. basically the seller want $4600 for it...and i believe its a lil high.

the truck right now has abour 84200 miles on it.

i got the info about the spec. on edmunds already and test drove it yesterday. the truck is in good shape...some minor problem...is slight pull to the right and shake a lil bit more than i like on idle.

so i wanted to check out the history before i give the owner a counter offer.

thanks anyway

$4,600 is a bit high for that truck.* I would offer him no more than $4,000 for it, and at that, it had better be in immaculate shape.*

Compared to the MZR engines in our 3s, the Nissan KA engines do tend to run a bit rougher, but that's just the basic design of those engines, not a flaw with that particular truck.* I would bet that a good tune up would take care of any missing/idling problems that truck might have.

Re: CarFAX Report Please Help, Vin# 1N6SD11S2VC430652

The earlier builds of the KA24E(89-93) were famous for having timing chain guide issues that would help to prematurely wear out the chain. In later builds(94-97) the guides were redesigned and the problem was gone. It's not uncommon for one of these engines, that is properly maintained, to go 250K miles or more before needing a rebuild/refresh. The transmissions, both auto and stick, were fairly reliable units as well.
