Dear president Bush:

Please write down your speeches before you go to the podium and have atleast 3 people with a college education review them beforehand... thanks

Re: Dear president Bush:

Sadly, I suspect that he already does that and a lot more. Short of someone going up there and doing it for him, I doubt you'll ever see an improvement.

Re: Dear president Bush:

it seems like every time he gets up there he is just coming up with this shit right on the spot... you would think after the first few speeches his advisors would be like "look man READ the speech"

lol it's more like, "Look man LEARN the speech because we know you can't read!"

Re: Dear president Bush:

Maybe they should put the speeches in picture form so he can understand it. :-)

There is also a difference between his real, true speeches (State of the Union, etc) and the press-conference-style blabberings he does. Apparently a lot of Americans thought his uncomfortable ramblings made him more folksy, and "one of the people" but I personally don't think an average Joe should be president! We need a statesman/woman in that position. Someone who can inspire people to do better than they're doing now. Someone kids can look up to, someone the world respects even if they don't always agree! W is all proud that even a C student can become president, but I'd like to see an average C student become president w/o Daddy's coattails.

yeah, Kerry showed that it just can't be done. Then again, being governor of one of the largest states in the Union doesn't sound like riding on coattails to me, so maybe your dream has come true afterall!

Be honest, zobx: you really don't have a problem with someone riding their family name to the White House as long as you agree with their politics, right?

Re: Dear president Bush:

I guess I should have noted the sarcasm in my post, because I really don't want to see a "C student" or average Joe as president regardless of their politics. I was trying to say that it would have been a lot harder for president Bush to have the opportunities and success he's seen without the help of his family name.

But yes, to admit my bias, I would have less of a problem if I agreed with his politics. But that doesn't mean I *wouldn't* have a problem with it. I know Kerry was a C student as well, but in my opinion, he did a slightly better job of becoming a statesman and is someone who would listen to others better than Bush and doesn't have the cavalier "with us or against us" attitude either. He did better at recognizing various shades of gray that exist in the world rather than absolute black and white.

I don't want to get in a deep argument in the forums because that's not why we're all here. We all have differing views and that is really what makes the country great since we can freely discuss them and respect others' views! I don't want to belittle the "C students" either because there have been plenty of poorly educated presidents that were great and plenty of super-educated presidents that weren't so great. The person makes the office.

Yeah there's not much motivation for kids to become president anymore.

Correction, you only need C's, an amazing ability to mangle common words and phrases, and a constant grin that hides your complete detachment from everything that goes on around you to become president.
