totally not mazda related but...

i got a ticket for making an illegal u turn in a business district(i looked around, that cop literally cam outa nowhere) i took traffic school so do you guys know if it'll effect my insurance or will that depend on the insurance company? if they ask me if i've gotten a ticket do i say "yes but i attended traffic school" or simply "no" becuase traffic school "ereases" the ticket.

They won't ask you. They'll pull your record after a period of time to see themselves if you've gotten into trouble. They may notice it, they may not. Best advice is to keep your nose clean- no more tickets of any sorts and for damn certain, no accidents. The traffic school may take the points off your license, but the offense remains for 2-3 years until it expires.

Re: totally not mazda related but...

It may not the the right thing to do all the time... but I never tell any insurance company about tickets, if they really want to, they will find out on their own, most of the times they don't even bother checking unless you are opening a new policy with them, but like my current agent, been with him for years, he does not check at all even when I renew my account. Steer away from accidents, pay your fines for any tickets, go to traffic school, you should be alright

dont tell them about it and they will never know if you went to driver's school and it disappeared. Thats how it works here at least.

It won't "disappear." The driver's school takes the point infraction off your license and driving record. However, since you paid it and were convicted of it by paying said fine, it remains on your permanant driving record until it expires (usually 2-3 years).

Might not be able to do so for both. I know for a fact that here in Virginia, if you do one of those courses it must be either for insurance discount OR to reduce your points. It can't be used for both at one time.

Re: totally not mazda related but...

did you get convicted yet?* you might wanna plead not guilty on the ticket and go to traffic courst and get the charge reduced to something less offensive.

PS: it does work, last time i reduced my 23mph over speed limit (in work zone) to going through stop sign and no points.

no sig

There's few ways out of an illegal u-turn charge, especially if he never saw the cop. *He has no basis because he has no idea where the cop was and the absolute last thing he needs is to lie in court by making up a story.

If you have a prestine record, you might want to go into court, plead "no contest" and state it was a momentary lack of judgement and that your driving record speaks for itself. *However, be warned: *if you get a hanging judge, he could throw the book at you and the punnishment would be worse than just paying the ticket.

But seriously, of all the things to worry about with insurance and tickets, an illegal u-turn is the last. *It'll be a minimal fine, pay it, do the class if you're so worried, and just relax. *It won't do much harm.
