When app. people wont fix stuff, what do u do

Basically i just found out that the people in the APP above me have had there bathtub cracked for a month or two now, they told the app manager dozens of times and all they did was half assed job of either cahking (sp) it or :? :x painting over it (WTF)

so now (finally ocording to my upstairs neighbors) thir bathtubs leaking into my APP, its dripping into my bathroom and bedroom, and thank god not on any of my electronics (i have atleast 5k worht of shit in the adjacent room)

so my question is isnt there someone i can call that will like legally force them to REALLY fix it... i meen theres probably mold growing in the walls right now, and as most of you probably know mold causes respratory problems when your exposed to it constantly... and the people above me are pregnant (the woman atleast lol) its really fucked up

so i meen like a county or state goverment organization, isnt there one that keeps track of this stuff....

1) check your lease. There should be some language in there that lays out the responsibilities of the landlord as far as maintenance is concerned. It may be very vague, or it could be really specific and say exactly what they have to do, and what you can do if they fail to live up to the contract.

2) contact your state or local housing authority. Check locally first, for whatever county or city you live in. They usually have very specific and strict laws that govern this kind of thing. They can tell you what to do in this situation.

3) contact an attorney. If you can't understand the language in your lease, and your local .gov can't/won't help, then it's worth your time and money to see a lawyer. Seriously, $100 for an hour with a scumbag...er, honorable member of the legal profession, is nothing compared to your health or property damage.

You're right to be mad.

Caulk is a temporary solution at best. If your slumlord landlord won't fix, you probably do need to raise hell.

A cracked bathtub is a minor problem in and of itself to fix, but if there is water damage, the cost to fix just grew exponentially.
