Small car VS big car

There are many some small cars out in the US market.
Scion xA, Honda Fit, Chevy Aveo, Toyota Echo, Suzuki Reno are some.
However, I rarely see any. When one travels overseas, they see many more!
With gas prices around $3 gal, and never perhaps to dramatically drop, is this when small cars make a come back and SUV's a dive?
Is it time we stop waisting a finite resource?
How many big cars/trucks do you really see with more than two people in 'em! It is insane. Hope smaller cars like the MZ3 will rule in future!

I like power also but it can be found with innovation in a small car!* But is it not insane to waste a finite resource and let market fundementals-tastes only decide?
Meanwhile, our national debt baloons and our dependence on foreign oil gets us in trouble!

Agreed but, arent some of the bigger cars "meaning higher cyl. engines" suppose to shut down to
less cylinders when not in use?

i know it dosent solve the problem. but, conservation is ultimately the goal.

Re: Small car VS big car

There's plenty of land for parking lots in us, we don't really see the disadvantages of small cars. The yurop gov't don't want to spend money on public roads and parking so they are forcing everyone to have small cars / commute by keeping gas prices high. In US we have a choice, and the people have spoken == big cars are better. Btw, what size are the more expensive yuropeon cars, 750, s500, bentley, huh?
