Digital Camera help

ok my gateway camera which ive had for about a year, is going crazy. It kept giving me Card errors and wouldnt take pictures. So I take it best buy, since i have a 4yr warranty on it, and of course it works perfect for them. :x

So finally one of the 'geek squad' guys keeps turning the camera on and off, and manages it to get the error message, where the camera locks up. So anyway, they ship the camera off to get 'repaired', but im 99.9% its gonna come back with the same error.

Anyway, what camera do you guys recommend? I saw a Sony cybershot 7.2mp for $400. I also saw a couple Casio cameras that were nice, including one that had less than a second 'startup time'. Anyone have good/bad experiances with either? Any other brands I should look into? The only thing is that it has to be sold at bestbuy, since ill have $200 credit.

Re: Digital Camera help

oh ok, i figure high megapixel meant best pictures. Yes i diffentely want Quality over Size. My gateway took pretty shitty pics, they were pretty crappy, even if i used a tripod.

Re: Digital Camera help

What are you requirements for a camera? I mean do you want a nice small slim one or do you want more optical zoom? I take it SLR is out of the question but answering the previous question will help narrow the field since the choices are pretty much exclusive of one another.

Re: Digital Camera help

Well i really just want something that takes really clear pics for the price. Dont really care about the size of the pics, camera size doesnt really matter. As long as its not a big problem to carry around.

Re: Digital Camera help

Well, I'm looking at three right now since I don't think I'll be getting the Digital Rebel XT (although I might).

Here they are:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...canon_s2is.asp
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...nic_dmcfz5.asp
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...kodak_z740.asp

The Kodak is the cheapest but I'm really leaning towards the Panasonic. Nothing like a Leica lens.

The reason I said I might swing for the Rebel XT is that Circuit City has the camera and lens down to 899 and they have no interest to February 2007. That's plenty of time to pay it off.
