eBay: any experienced users on this forum?

Did a search and it listed 66 pages of references to eBay.* I'd be in my grave by the time I finished going through all those links.* So, if this has been asked before, I apologize now.

Is it worth the time/effort to register and post an ad on eBay to sell only one item?* In my case, this would most likely be a one time event.*

It depends, do you want to set up a paypal account also? Chances are you'll end up buying or selling more stuff that just once. Might a well join online best flea market.

My understanding is that setting up a paypal account is the safest way to ensure proper payment. Is this true? And what are the alternatives.

I think pay pal charges you 5% for every transaction you complete (only pertains to sellers). Money order is safer and you can do personal checks but i advice you to let it clear first.

Depends on your item. Don't pay the fees if you want to sell your grandma's lamp for 20 bucks.

You might also try http://www.craigslist.com/* From what I understand listings are free and it's more local.
I bought my dryer off there.

Whatcha selling my furry little rodent friend? Your virginity? (You did say it was one item) :-)

Naw.. Seriously Rat, eBay is a great way to sell stuff. Who knows you may end up doing more at some point, or you may get into buying stuff. Just know what you are doing and lurk for a while.
