My slim PS2 A-C adaptor was recalled

Tokyo -- Sony says it is recalling millions of A-C adaptors sold with the slim version of its PlayStation Two following cases of overheating and melting. Several hundred thousand were sold in the U-S.

The company says it has received reports of 38 cases of adaptors overheating and melting in North America.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been four reports of minor property damage and two reports of minor burns and one of a minor shock.

The C-P-S-C says consumers should stop using the recalled adaptors immediately and contact Sony to get a free replacement.

You can call Sony at (888) 780-7690 or visit the web site at www.us.playstation.com/Adaptor

Mine was one of them :?

I just called and verifed and they are sending me a new AC adaptor, and when i get it i send the old one back. Not to bad I guess. If you bought a Slim PS2 in the first few months, you probably qualify.

damn. I need to call them. I traded my PS2 in Iraq to a taylor in exchange for him making me a custom suit. Also saved me a bit of space. I was happy when I went to the store and saw this slim PS2 at a cheap price. I guess I cant win.
thanks for the info.

You can verify it from the link he posted, so you don't have to call them.

I lucked out, mine isn't affected.

That would be me, I got it fall/winter but I don't use it enough to have overheating issues. The PS3 will probably replace it anyway.

That sucks that they ask for it to be sent back.
