Re: Castro: U.S. hasn't responded to Katrina offer

I think its absurd that the US hasnt accepted the offer from Cuba. Further, I am embarrassed that the US hasn't even sent a response to Cuba.

Isn't it odd that other countries sent aid to the US, one of the wealthiest and most generous nations in the world? Contrary to what some may think, the US only dedicates roughly 2% of its GDP (gross domestic product) to foreign aid. France even offered aid to the US.

Re: Castro: U.S. hasn't responded to Katrina offer

Wait a second, I thought our "evil" embargo was starving and killing Cuban citizens? Yet they have medicine and doctors too send over here, people critical of the embargo are going to have to adjust their arguement now. I personaly think the embargo policy is about useless, since just about every other country trades with them, but it was always entertaining to see some of the Communist sympathizers that would show up claiming we were harming citizens in Cuba, totally ignoring the fact that Fidel had more to do with the quality of life (or lack of) in Cuba.

I am happy to see other countries offering help.

Is that 2% GDP taking into account all our military expeditures over the past 60 odd years? I lived in Germany for awhile, the amount of money we (USA) must of sunk into the European economies with all those bases and military personal, helping speed them out of WW2 destruction and keeping the Soviet Bloc out of Western Europe, while they focused on rebuilding instead of military expenditures of their own, must account for something. also see Pacific region.

You got that right, brotha.

Castro has actually launched propaganda campaigns with the sole purpose of distracting his own citizens from their misfortune. "Don't worry about the economy, everyone will get a free pressure cooker next week..." It's cartoonish.

I think a medical degree in Cuba
qualifies you to be a cab driver
