Of All the things that could happen....

It was my first day at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and it started with the worst news about my car. I currently live in Madison, WI and drive to Harvard, Il (1hr and a half drive) from there I take the train into downtown Chicago. All in all a 3 hour commute. Well I get to about two blocks from my school when I realised that my keys are no where on me. So calling every place that I had been that morning, yet I still couldn't find them. Then I called the dealership to see if I could get a spare key remade from the VIN number... nope the car has to be in the shop for them to reprogram it. Oh and if you're wondering where my other set it well that's missing too. So I'm here in Madison, WI typing away while my car is in Harvard, IL sitting at an overnight parking lot. Hopefully I'll be able to get this all squared away by tomorrow.

I'm not trying to be mean/insulting here, but how could you lose both sets? Are you that disorganized? Sounds like you need a real key CHAIN that connects to your pants and never leaves them.

Re: Of All the things that could happen....

Well, if you're wondering how I lost both sets... let's see the first set I used to open my door when I locked my other set in the car and somehow completely misplaced it. That was a year ago, with the second set I must've dropped them under the seat of the train and completely forgot about them when I was getting off. I've talked to the train's lost and found and they said nothing came in so far but it can take up to 2 days before it surfaces again. And yes, I am that disorganized. If it's in my hands then I have a tendancy to put it down and forget about it. It's a flaw that I'm trying to work on but as you can see it hasn't really gotten very far. On the brighter side I talked to the roadside assistance people and they said they can get my car towed to the nearest Mazda dealership, where they can make me a new set and program it to my car, for free... so that's a bonus. So all is not lost but I figure I'd share my story here.
