Donate now to Humane Society or ASPCA for Disaster Relief

Ok, someone just posted this at my work and animals are near and dear to my heart.* Thought I would share it.

Humane Society of the United States:
https://secure.hsus.org/01/disaster_relief_fund_2005?

ASPCA:
http://www.aspca.org/

This was her quote in the ad here and it makes perfect sense:
In addition to donating to the Red Cross, please consider donating to the Humane Society or ASPCA. Animals are always overlooked during disasters.

Ya know, hopefully people would see this and think "fuck that."

People need saving more than animals do at this point.

Enjoy your spahgetti, you're very rude.

those people knew the hurricane was coming. some people were smart & moved, others didn't. cats & dogs dont get a say so in whether they move to a safer location or not. not saying that i dont have a heart for people b/c i do, just i feel sorry for those animals. and the way all those people are acting by shooting their sisters heads off & crazy stuff like that, my money won't help them anyway. they need a mental institute, not money! i dont give a damn how hungry or thirsty i get, i sure as hell wouldnt go & shoot my family or any of this other crazy shit these people are doing. come on, they're even running around stealing shit from people! i dont feel that sorry for them

Re: Donate now to Humane Society or ASPCA for Disaster Relief

While I do disagree with inhumane treatment towards animals...in times of disaster like we are presented with now, even the strict naturalist/evolutionist should understand that one must protect ones own species before thinking about another. *

And like I said...don't take this to the extreme, this doesn't mean that we should not strive to save and protect our eco-system by protecting animals that can't help themselves under normal circumstances. *But given the choice between the life of my fellow human and the life of an animal, my hand and wallet will extend to my brother and sister.

It saddens me to think that someone would lend money to animals that could be used to save a human life. *I do not judge, no matter what life is in need of being saved, whether they didn't listen to warnings, even if a prison needed to be evacuated, who are we to judge why our fellow man did not choose or were unable to save themselves. *Whatever their status, show compassion and mercy to your brother and sister, their status as a human grants them that right in my eyes. *

I agree with that as well, but in the same breath there is no need for them to act the way they are acting.. of course I would dontate to both causes, its just a matter of priority at the moment

Re: Donate now to Humane Society or ASPCA for Disaster Relief

half of those people you'd be donating to probably wouldn't do the same for you. not to mention, they could be robbers & crooks! or rapists! or murderers! or just plain wacko's! at this point in my life, i am just about completely fed up w/ the human race. why? b/c there are too many bad people out there, and not enough good people. i'd be damned to donate my few, far & in between dollar bills to a bunch of people that could be bad. i'm sorry. i just dont got money like that. i'll take my chances w/ the cats & dogs. they rely on us to look after them.
