Worst sport for the body
I'm talking about the bio-mechanics involved in the sports... injuries from contact dont count cause well... they're accidents, and s&^t happens.
I vote for tennis. It's fact that tennis player's shoulders are MUCH more flexible and have a higher range of motion than non-tennis player. More flexibility costs stability. Same for a baseball pitcher.
I'll start with the motion of a basic serve, you're literally throwing your shoulder out to hit that serve. I know this for a fact because a orthopedic surgeon told me and i've been through one shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, and i'm only 20. Even though i tore it on a forehand, i know the serves set it up some months before i tore it.
Also, the constant stop and go drains on your joints, just think about the efficiency of engines when it's in stop and go mode, and the wear and tear expected from it.
Then there's the impact of hitting the ball, think about how much force the wrist, elbow, biceps, triceps and shoulder have to neutralize all the time.
And here's the ultimate fact (in my opinion), the average retirement age for tennis player is around 30yrs old. Average retirement age for basketball players are around 40 unless chronic injuries happen.
Andre Agassi is an exception, 35 and still f&^king up younguns, Bill Walton said Agassi is the model specimen for the term "fit."
Yes i play a lot of tennis and i love it, i hope this doesnt sound too bias, i try to just touch on the bio-mechanics involved in a tennis match.
What about you guys? what other sports are bad for the body and why, please say more than "you get hit"
