Re: MAZDA name means what?

According to Wilkipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda), there's some question as to where the name came from, but:

Quote:
There have been many stories about how it got its name. Some say it got its name from the Zoroastrian deity Ahura Mazda, while others say it was an anglicized pronunciation of the founder's name, Jujiro Matsuda. The most likely reason was that the name Mazda coincided with founder Matsuda's last name, who was known for his interest in spiritual matters, and may have chosen Mazda in honor of the Zoroastrians, and his own name. In Japanese, the company is referred to either by its anglicised name (MAZDA Motors) or as マツダ (Matsuda), after its founder.

What is an Zoroastrian?
[/quote]

Zoroastrianism is the name given to the religion of hundreds of thousands of people living today and millions of people over the past few thousands of years. It was adapted from an earlier, polytheistic faith by Zarathushtra (Zoroaster) in Persia very roughly around 1000 BC (although, in the absence of written records, some scholars' estimates are as late as 600 BC). Its alternative name, Mazdaism, comes from the Zoroastrian name for God, Ahura Mazda.

Mazdaism eh? well well well well....

SIDENOTE: My favourite performer (lead singe of Queen- Freddie Mercury) was of Zorastrian faith.
