Attempting to quit smoking... again...

This would be attempt #3 in the past 6 months.

I'm a little over 24 hours in and I already want to punch something... this is going to be a long, long week.

Re: Attempting to quit smoking... again...

The first 3 days are the worst mentally. Just don't go drinking or to a bar...big temptation.

Good luck!

my mother smoked her whole life and about 2 months ago was diagnosed with lung cancer....i believe that once you're diagnosed the average person has about a year to live

I'm sorry to hear that. Best of luck to both her and you.

Good for you.

All of my grandmothers 6 brothers and sisters died from lung cancer related to a life of smoking and my aunt who quit smoking 28 years ago when she adopted my cousins was told a year ago she has a spot on her lung that they have to moniter with monthly doctor visits. It's nasty stuff, good thing you're quiting now.

Best of luck to you.

it's bad enough that the stuff kills you and makes your breath and clothes smell but that cigarettes cost so damn much. that would be the biggest factor for me, i'm cheap like that

It starts the same way for everyone, or at least anyone I've talked to. The first cig is out of curiousity. The next ten or so are to fit in/look cool. Then you start enjoying cigarettes when you're out drinking or partying. Then you start smoking when you've had a bad day or are stressed out. And eventually you're doing it everyday, and you don't even know you got hooked until you try to stop.
