Street racers whats up with them?

Ok so i live in Fresno, one of the street racing capitols of America... and I swear that my car is a MAGNET for street races. Now, as most of you probably know, California is cracking down hard on street racing, so i dont floor my car anymore for any reason.... But let me tell you about how stupid people are here...

Situation 1: Driving home from school, pretty tired but really pissed off because i got harassed at my school parking lot by a guy in his mustang trying to run me off the road, well i see ANOTHER mustang exactly the same color, model, everything except this guy was different and he had his girl in his car... I pull up to the stoplight and he pulls up next to me and starts revving, while moving his car forward and back. I looked at him and he revved again so i was like what the hell why not.... I would provoke him. We take off, after first gear, i ease off at the speed limit while all of a sudden i hear SCREECH and pshhhh... Yea he hit nos... What a dumbass he was trying to show off to his girl... Yea i admit i was wrong here, but it was damn funny...

Situation 2: Driving home from my friends house 20 min ago and this supercharged silverado came next to me at a stopsign near my house. Launches real hard, takes off a car length ahead of me and flies down the road near 100 mph, all the while i just laughed and turned onto my street. He was obviously looking for a race because he kept staring at me as if he wanted me to go race too...

Situation 3: Ferrari Testarosa. Need i say more? Little punk kid gets to drive his daddy's Ferrari, he was probably 17-18 (my age, but i call him punk kid because he gets to race his dads Ferrari)... Pulls up next to me, revvs his engine and wants to take off, but when he sees taht im not biting, he slows down, gets on my tail and starts tailgating me while revving. Finally he just blew past me a few minutes down the line....

Situation 4: This one really scared me. Not a street racing incident but an act of road rage. I turned right onto a really big road here in town while it was green, and i was just heading down the road to the next light where it was red like normal. This little chinese lady pulls in front of me after crossing 3 lanes and i honk my horn, she says sorry with a wave of her hand and we were done. All of a sudden i hear honking and revving behind me to see a Land Rover coming up at me real fast and this guy was in the driverseat. He was yelling out the window, pointing at me, completely furious... cussing his brains out. I was like wtf? What did i do? I kept goign, and he kept revving and screaming at the top of his lungs while poiting at me for about 2 more blocks before i changed roads (i got freaked out)....

Whats going on to my town? In the case of #4... Should i be scared of being targeted or something? I dont even know what i did wrong? Damn people cant drive.

I now own a 2008 350z Base MT

I'd chalk #4 up to a weird encounter. I don't think you're in any harm. Just continue driving carefully. If you think you find yourself in a real mess, call the police while it's happening and head for the police station.

I have found that if I try to be more relaxed, say like a 50 yr old Chinese lady then road rage incidents go way down. I let other people do what they want so I don't piss them off, etc. However, I refuse to take off the line slowly. I bought a 5sp for some fun!

Re: Street racers whats up with them?

Alll those situations except Situation #3 seem pretty normal for asshole street racers and #4 is definitely an unknown weird incident.

Back to #3 though... this one I would have been totally pissed! I would have been fine up until the time when he slowed down and got behind me and tailgated and revved engine, THEN I woulda been furious! I don't go for that shit, I HATE when people tailgate me for any reason, and in that situation, with him revving I probably would've gunned it just to get away from him and then maybe turn off onto a different street and lose him at all costs! Boy that would've really ticked me off! I can just feel it! LOL!

What was the big street you were on? Blackstone or Shaw or something. I remember waaaaaayyyy waaaaayyyy back in the day when you were probably still in like 2nd or 3rd grade when I still lived in Fresno, Blackstone was known for all the whores walking up and down the street at night. Fresno is a hell of a place. I don't remember street racing being such a problem when I lived there. But then again I moved to NorCal my Freshman year in high school so I wasn't driving yet.
