Home Theatre Suggestion

My wife and I are building a house and as part of that we would like to upgrade our Home Theatre since the builder is doing the wiring. Has anyone heard Axiom speakers before?
http://www.axiomaudio.com/index.html

My uncle says they are great, but I have never auditioned them personally myself. I have a pretty average Yamaha set currently so anything will be an upgrade. :-)

My receiver is fine, it's an Onkyo TX-SR701 (100w/ channel) and I am thinking about mating it to this set:

If anyone else has any other suggestions, please feel free. I don't like Bose, so I am not even considering it. I like Klipsch and I already have a Quintet II system with my Console gaming setup in the basement. I would definitely consider something from Klipsch, but again, I want to know if anyone else has any experience with Axiom.

Thanks for the input.

Re: Home Theatre Suggestion

don't know much about axiom, other than they are getting pretty good review on audioreview.com (although no reviews on epic 60), but I can wholeheartedly recommend Snell Acoustics if you are looking for faithful music reproduction...

Re: Home Theatre Suggestion

Remember that independantly amping each channel can add a lot to the level of quality you experience too.

Anyway, I've heard of Axiom. No experience though.

Kiplisch can be a bit harsh sounding, but I've never heard anyone complain about going with them, for the price.

Right now I'm on Acoustic Research and Cambridge SoundWorks stuff (powered by a Pioneer VSX-D850S). Good stuff for the price, but probably not an upgrade for you (at least, not without getting high end CSW stuff).

Ahh, paradigm speakers are the best bang for the money - I've wanted a set for years... and I agree with Zoomy - klipsch sound really harsh compared to the warm awesomeness of a good set of Paradigm Monitors... I do have a pair of klipsch satellite speakers for my computer speakers though - and they suck

Link to the Monitors - they're made in Canada so they have to be good..........

If you can audition Paradigm speakers in your area, then do so.

Re: Home Theatre Suggestion

If you want some fairly inexpensive but excellent sounding speakers look into BIC America..I have a set of tower speakers from them that sound incredible...on the other end make sure you spend most of your funding for speakers on a center channel..your ambiance is lost if you cant hear what they are saying.* I have a $400 Energy center channel just to make sure I can hear everything nice and clear.
To say the least I have lots of opinions on Home theaters. Now If only I could afford everything I wanted

Another thing when looking at speakers..is make sure you match the tweeter materials all the way around. You dont want titanium tweeters in one speaker and a polymer tweeter in the other...If you do a titanium tweeter and horn tweeter(i.e. Klipsch speaker) you should be fine though.

Argh, you two need to get some more unique usernames - this is driving me nuts.....

I have an old Infinity CC3 center chanel - it's not very good; I can't recommend anything by infinity after buying this........

Re: Home Theatre Suggestion

I actually love Paradigm stuff. I was under the impression I couldn't get a set that would be good for a fairly large room for around $2000 though. The living room in the new house is pretty large. It's 15x22 with valuted ceilings. Can I get room filling sound for a room that size from Paradigm for around $2k?
