How much sleep do you need?

k since I've been trying since Sunday to recover the sleep I lost on Saturday night, I thought I'd ask everyone how much sleep do you need in order to feel well rested AND what time do you normally go to bed and wake up in the morning?

I need at least 8 hours

I go to bed at around 10 and generally fall asleep within in the hour
My alarm is set at 7 and my clock is 25 minutes ahead and I hit the snooze at least twice (9 minutes each).

I just want to go to sleep NOW!

Re: How much sleep do you need?

Generally I go to bed by 1am and wake up at 6:15-6:30 with snooze. So thats 5.5 hours max. I don't exactly feel WELL rested but I get through the days work and stuff after.

Re: How much sleep do you need?

I need more than I've been getting lately. My son has been sick so he's been waking up around 3:00 and not getting back to sleep until 4:00 or so.

Ususally i go to bed around 9:30 or 10:00 and get up at 5:00.

I stayed out till around 5AM last Saturday, I walked home from downtown through many alleys trying to avoid being picked up and thrown in the drunk tank, that took me a couple of hours to get home, and I had to work the next day @ 11. *So I never really had a chance to sleep in on Sunday and make up for lost time....but oddly enough that allowed me to get back onto schedule faster. You see on Sunday night I was so damn tired that I slept soundly and I actually even woke up Monday morning before my alarm clock even went off. *If you are sleeping for more than 9 hours no matter how tired you are that is called oversleeping, and it is just as bad as not geting enough sleep. *You will know you had a good sleep if you wake up before you need too (assuming not because you have to take a piss or your waking up in less then 7.5 hours), if this ever happens to you do yourself a favour and dont go back to sleep, climb out of bed and you will feel great in no time. *If you go back to sleep you are wasting your time because it takes atleast a couple of hours to fall all the way into REM sleep which is actually the only real productive part of sleep. *So having 20 or 30 minute naps mid day basically is a waste of time, save all your sleep for one time in the day. *

Re: How much sleep do you need?

i need a good 10 hours to feel rested. i go to bed anywhere between 11 and 1 and wake up at 5 or 7 (depends on day). as soon as i hit the pillow, im out. i used to work seven days a week but now im down to 6. i either need a vacation, or some more sleep. single no kids, so i sleep straight.

Re: How much sleep do you need?

5 hours is all I need. I work 12 hour shifts at night so my schedule is really flipped. I can get by with 5 with no difficulty.

Re: How much sleep do you need?

I usually go to bed too late, wake up too early, and get yelled at for napping at my desk.

Haha, be strong. Basically what happens when you sleep in the middle of the day is your body gets used to it. It will become habitual and you will frequently be tired mid day even if you had a good sleep the night before.
