FCC Deregulates DSL

http://www.forbes.com/2005/08/05/fcc...acescan11.html

Anyone in here use Earthlink or a similar local DSL provider? Prepare for a rate hike if you do. The big bells are no longer under obligation to provide usage of their lines at wholesale prices to the independents.

This relates to our cars, how? I can see that this is an electronics discussion, but I think this belongs in the lounge.

Now, about the article. I do have earthlink, and it already sucks. If they raise the rates I'm getting cable.

earthlink does blow. ironically, i called yesterday to cancel. i was paying $21 and change for the slowest connection known to man. i switched to DSL from my local phone company which is about 7 bucks cheaper.

I guess luckily? DSL isn;t available in my area at all. If I get cable, I have to pay $57.95/month + all the always present fees

Ah the guys at comcast...I used to do technical support for their broadband internet service.
I didn't like the way they offered service, it seemed too expensive for the troubles that some of the customers were having.
Internet in the states is pretty expesive eh?
