what do you do with tailgaters?

i either box them in, its pretty fun looking at their frustration =D

a new way i learned to get tailgaters off 'safer' can only work during the day. what you do is while youre being tailgated, turn on your headlights which also turn on the outside red lights on the tail lights which causes them to think youre braking but not

why don't you just move over and let them pass? It's a lot easier on everyone.

Re: what do you do with tailgaters?

Let's see, two folks from California trying to piss off a tailgater even more than he probably is because you won't move... HHMM!!! I wonder if there is a coorelation with the number of freeway shootings?* Could be a nice research project. I wonder if I can get a government grant to check it out?

In the end, who's the bigger idiot? The tailgater or the person intentionaly trying to piss the other driver off?* We report, you decide.

Re: what do you do with tailgaters?

You're doing 90 on a 2 lane highway and getting tailgaters?
I kinda doubt it.

If it is true then there is some kind of childish, testosterone driven,
stupidity going on there.

Re: what do you do with tailgaters?

For me, it depends on how much traffic is around me, the speed of all the cars, and my mood. If I cannot move anywhere, and some idiot decides to tail me, I have in the past just kept my speed constant. I sometimes will try and move over, just because I hate people who tail me, but I never try and provoke them. I just shake my head and move on.

I usually move out of their way. If it's pretty obvious that I can't at the moment and am keeping up with the flow I just try to ignore them and then move out of the way when I can. Some people just don't realize they are tailgaiting.

Re: what do you do with tailgaters?

on the highway last week i was doing about 80-85 and the gu was tailgating me in a POS honda from the 80's all rusted out, i let him sit and wait a few minutes then i moved over to let him pass then got behind him and stayed with him speed wise (while keeping about 2-1/2-3 car lenghts between us) like to a little over a hundred. but the best was when the tractor trailer pissed him off that i had helped out earlier. gotta love truckers.

Re: what do you do with tailgaters?

If someone is on my ass I'll let them stay there. I don't drive in the left lane, I use it to pass (like we're all supposed to) and then move back to the right when I'm clear. If someone is behind me, and I'm in the left because I'm passing everyone in the other lane, I'll move over when I find a slot. If I have to slow down for a bit, to let them pass me safely, then so be it.

If some dumbass wants to tailgate me, I have no problem with that. If they hit me, it's their fault.
