Microsoft presses pedal on in-car software

Please help us all..... So thanks to Microsoft, our cars might soon be crashing and failing all over the place due to poorly made software or viruses.

Yeah...a microsofted ECU system is very very scary..I dont want to be driving down the interstate have windows blue screen and then I have to pull over and restart my car to reboot my computer..

ye, but think of the possibilities: all cars have the same chip, just different software! it'll take a little patch to make the foglights independant, or have auto-locks, or any of that stuff that takes 3 hours of soldering these days.

I dunno... Microsoft seems to screw things up alot... But if what root said is possible, then hey that would be great!

ya, an open source unix type system would be sick, but what are the chances of a system like that going commercial?... Microshaft stuff would be a very unreliable, limited system... not what we would hope for it to be...
